Academic Education
- In 1975, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa.
- In 1980, he specialised in Internal Medicine at the University of Pisa.
- In 1985, he specialised in Diseases of the Digestive System at the University of Pisa.
- In 1986, he obtained national qualification as Chief Gastroenterologist.
- In 1987, he obtained national qualification as Chief of Internal Medicine.
Professional Training
- In 1976, he began training in the field of gastroenterology at the UOC Gastroenterology and Exchange Diseases Unit in Pisa, which led him to develop specific management skills first as an Assistant, then as an Assistant and finally as Director of the same Complex Operating Unit (UOC).
- From 1976 to 1987, he worked as a doctor in general medicine.
- In 1976 he did a hospital internship ‘Gastroenterology’ USL 12 Pisa.
- From 1980 to 1982, he worked as an IRRC Pisa Aide.
- From 1981 to 1990 he worked as Assistant Division of Gastroenterology and Exchange Diseases at USL 12.
- From 1990 to 2010, he worked as a Gastroenterology and Exchange Diseases Assistant at AOUP Pisa.
- From 1993 to 1998 he worked as Head of the Diabetology Module at AOU Pisana.
- From 2008 to 2010, he was Head of Module ‘Digestive Endoscopy’ AOU Pisana.
- From 2010 to 2019, he served as Director U.O.C Gastroenterology and Exchange Diseases AOU Pisana.
- From 2019 to date, he has been working at the San Rossore Medical Centre.

Dr Bresci has gained particular experience:
- In diagnostic and operative digestive endoscopy;
- in the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive treatment of diseases of the digestive system;
- in the organisation and management of outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic pathways (PDTA) for gastroenterology and colorectal cancer prevention;
- introduced video capsule, granulocytapheresis and contributed to the introduction of robotic endoscopy at the current AOUP.
