Malabsorption

Malabsorption is a condition in which the body fails to adequately absorb nutrients from the food consumed. It can result from problems such as inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, pancreatic insufficiency or other conditions. Symptoms include weight loss, weakness, fatigue, gastrointestinal problems and nutritional deficiencies. Treatment involves management of the underlying cause and often requires dietary changes and supplements.
