Podiatry
Podiatry is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention and treatment of foot diseases.
The pathologies treated are:
- Free orthostasis (free standing position)
- Open kinetic chain (the system in which the farthest end is free, without any kind of constraint (Example: leg extension in a sitting position)
- During walking
- a diagnostic examination is also performed, via the baropodometric, for the study of plantar support and load distribution during walking.
The pathologies treated by the Fisiokinetic Center for Podiatry are:
- Nail diseases (e.g., nail dystrophy, onychomycosis, ingrown nail, etc.)
- Skin diseases (e.g., warts, ulcerations, hyperkeratosis, dyskeratosis, etc.)
REHABILITATION
The podiatry specialist also performs:
- Active, passive and propioceptive physiokinesitherapy of foot and ankle
- post-surgical reeducation
ORTHESIC-PODOLOGICAL THERAPY
- Plantar orthotics: making accommodative orthotics (for proper load distribution) and biomechanical orthotics (for correction of any joint deformities)
- Nail orthotics: nail rehabilitation and reconstruction (ingrown nail, dystrophic nail)
- Digital orthoses: fabrication of custom-made silicone devices to contain and/or correct finger deformities (jawed fingers, hammer toes, etc.)
