Academic Education

In 1992, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa.
In 1998, he specialised in Hand Surgery at the University of Florence.
In 2006, he specialised in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Parma.

From 1993 to 1999, he worked in the Emergency Room in constant attendance of the Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery O.U. at Pisa Hospital.
From 1998 to 2000, he worked on the GRIP project (An integrated system for neuroelectric control of grasp indisabled persons, #26322), approved and financed by the European Community’s ESPRIT IV programme and coordinated by the Scuola Superiore S. Anna in Pisa.
In the same years, he collaborated on the INTER project (Intelligent Neural InTERface, #8897).
From 1999 to 2013 he held the position of Medical Director at the U.O. Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery of the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana.
From 2001 to 2011, he collaborated with the INAIL Motor Re-education Centre in Volterra (PI) through periodic examinations of patients injured in the upper limbs and subsequent surgical treatment of the outcomes.
From 2004 to 2005, he collaborated with the Istituto per Neurolesi ‘San Raffaele’ in Ceglie (BR) in functional surgery on myelolysis patients.
