Curriculum


Academic Education

  • In 1978, she graduated in Medicine and Surgery and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Diseases of the Cardiovascular System at the University of Pisa.
  • In 1989 and 1992, she learned transcatheter ablation techniques for cardiac arrhythmias at schools in Paris and Bordeaux.

Professional Training

  • In 2008, she was assigned by AOUP to head the Departmental Section of Arrhythmology in the CardioThoracic Department.
  • Since 2009, she has been the Director of the Complex Operative Unit of Cardiology with the focus on arrhythmology.
  • In 2010, she was elected President of the Italian Association of Arthymology and Cardiostimulation.
  • In 2011, the European Heart Rhythm Association appointed her as a member and later co-chair of the Scientific Initiatives Committee.
  • In 2012 at the invitation of the European Heart Rhythm Association (and previously of the Heart Rhythm Society in 2009) she participated in the drafting of the International Guidelines for the management of pacing and defibrillation leads. In the same year, she was given responsibility for coordinating the European ELECTRA transvenous lead removal registry.
  • Since 2013, she has been Deputy Director of the CardioThoracoVascular Department of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Pisana.
  • In 2014 Member of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Clinical Pharmacology for Drug Trials.
  • In 2015, as in 2010, she was a member of the committee of the European Society of Cardiology for the drafting of the International Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Infective Endocarditis.
  • In 2016, she was elected Regional President of Tuscany Hospital Cardiologists.
  • In the same year, she was awarded the Pisa Donna 2016 Prize, awarded by the Municipality of Pisa, for her commitment to her work as a cardiologist.
  • In 2017, she was awarded the ‘Benemerenza al merito under the title of ‘San Ranieri’, as a certificate of esteem for having brought prestige and honour to the city of Pisa in the world, conferred by the Accademia dei Disuniti of Pisa.
  • From 2017 to 2021, she was appointed by the Region of Tuscany as a member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the Tuscan Body for Clinical Governance.

Teaching Activities

  • Second-level university master’s degree ‘Percutaneous interventional treatment of structural heart diseases’ awarded by the Scuola Universitaria Superiore S. Anna di Pisa;
  • ‘Hospital care and hygiene internship’ as part of the CdLM in Medicine and Surgery, Medical, Molecular and Critical Area
  • Master ‘Clinical Trials of Drugs in Internal Medicine, Haematology and Oncology’ awarded by the University of Pisa;
  • Lecturer in Arithmology as Adjunct Professor in the Postgraduate School of Cardiology and Geriatrics.
