Hiatal hernia

Hiatal hernia is a condition in which part of the stomach pushes through the opening in the diaphragm (hiatus) and is located in the chest cavity near the esophagus. This can cause acid reflux and symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation and chest pain. Causes may include congenital weakness of the diaphragm or factors that increase abdominal pressure, such as obesity or straining.
